Underwater computer vision has attracted increasing attention in the research community due to recent advances underwater platforms such as of rovers, gliders, autonomous vehicles (AUVs) , and like, that now make possible acquisition vast amounts imagery video for applications biodiversity assessment, environmental monitoring, search rescue. Despite growing interest, is still a relatively under-researched area, where literature been paid use techniques image restoration reconstruction, formation models processing methods are used recover colour corrected or enhanced images. This notion these can be achieve photometric invariants perform higher-level tasks shape recovery recognition under challenging widely varying imaging conditions apply scenes. In this paper, we review restoration, recognition, depth, recovery. Further, current management protection, infrastructure inspection AUVs navigation, amongst others. We also delve upon trends field examine challenges opportunities area.
